About Us

The Alameda County Health Pathway Partnership (ACHPP) is a consortium of pathway programs and organizations that aim to increase the diversity of the healthcare workforce by providing mentorship, academic enrichment, leadership development, and career exposure to disadvantaged and minority youth.

The Alameda County Health Care Services Agency has served as the facilitator of the consortium since 2007. Members are comprised of fifteen different organizations that provide short-term and long-term opportunities to youth in middle school through college and graduate students from underserved communities throughout Alameda County.

Our Impact

There is an evident cultural gap between health care providers and the communities they serve which may contribute to the disparities. Historically, health care providers have issues administering health care to their patients due to cultural incompetency, language barriers, and stereotypical assumptions. In efforts to fix this issue, the Alameda County Health Pathway Partnership (ACHPP) was initiated in 2007 in order to ensure the ethnicity and cultural background of our health care providers match that of the Alameda County. ACHPP is an association of fifteen different organizations that provide short-term and long-term opportunities to youth in middle school through college and graduate students from underserved communities throughout Alameda County.
